Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada
10pm. I just got this email from Marc:
Hey bro! I could not make it after all on sunday. I had to go to a mothers
day dinner at 5pm so I would of had to leave the cliff at 3pm that would of
only given me 5 1/2 hrs of work. I had a great time climbing with you; it
had been a long time since we had a talk. It made me realize that you have
had a real positive impact on my life. From getting me into climbing to the
way I eat and to the way I want to live my life. Thank you, it is the
greatest gift someone could ever receive from a friend. I will look for a
car in moncton for you now that I know what your looking for. I enjoy doing
this. I also have one of your locking carabineers so I will try to get that
to ya soon.
well see ya later
Marc
Marc... thank you for your thoughful and kind words; they are very much appreciated. And it works both ways. I am proud to say you are my friend; you have done very well for yourself and will do great things in the future.
As for looking for cars... thanx. A used wagon for under $4000 is what I want.
Tom and I spent the afternoon on Minkey wall. I lead a 5.10 trad called Bird of Fire, then Tom cleaned and lead a new line that meets up with a new route through the roof put up by Ulis this past weekend. I got that tired feeling... the kind that says I did something... and it feels good.

11:56pm. On the drive home from the cliffs, Tom and I ate ice cream and listened to Ideas, a brilliant show on CBC radio, telling the story of Richard Burton, a journalist in the mid 1800's with a passion for exploring cultures. In his early 20's, he worked as a spy for the British Army in India and wrote four books. He'd go undercover and mix with the locals. It took me back to Mexico, and kindled a burning desire to return.
