My life would be much simpler if I did not maintain this website. I would not need to spend countless hours each week preparing polished copies of my journals. I would not be on the phone or writing letters to companies pleading for their support. And, I would not need to carry the extra equipment: laptop, satellite phone, digital camera, solar panels, etc. I hate these responsibilities. Dealing with all of it sucks!
But, this website is a burden I have chosen. I do it, because I know it is a good thing to do. When folks send emails telling me that my work has made a positive impact on their life, it makes my efforts worth-while and gives me the ambition to carry on.
This website is not for profit. I wouldn't do it for money. I have found that true wealth isn't about accumulating vast amounts of possessions and property ...it's about acquiring friends and fantastic experiences. Cars crash, houses burn, and all that is left are the memories.
Unfortunately, web sites aren't built and maintained with memories. It takes a lot of time and money. I have invested thousands of hours preparing my journals and photographs and building pages to put them on, and many thousands of dollars to bring them to you.
I believe that people need to be reminded that they shouldn't wait until they're a crusty old fart or confined to a hospital bed to realize that every day healthy and free is precious.I believe that people need to be told that they alone manifest their destiny, and that they must accept full responsibility for their actions.
I believe that students need to be shown that education can be fun and exciting, and that it does not have to be confined to a class room.
I believe that young people need to be told that what they want... is what is most important.
I believe that people need to be shown that they are capable of anything, as long as they set goals, then take the steps necessary to achieve them.
I believe in myself, I believe in my dreams, and I believe that there are others who dream the same dreams.
I believe that the world is filled with many insightful and generous people - people who know that they too can make a difference.
I believe that when these people see my work, they will see that it is righteous, and will choose to support it.
Immediately after this journey, I will publish a book, and tour North America with a motivational slide show presentation, shareing the adventures I am now experiencing.
